2009 Toyota Corolla Recalls
This post discusses about the 2009 Toyota Corolla recalls.
2009 Toyota Corolla Recall Summary
On 21st January 2009, Toyota recalled 2007-2010 Camry models, 2005-2010 Avalon, Corolla Matrix, 2009-2010 Corolla, Rav4, 2010 Highlander, 2008-2010 Sequoia, and 2007-2010 Tundra vehicles.
Root Cause of Recall
Due to the unexpected manner in which the friction lever relates to the surface of the accelerator pedal in the pedal sensor assembly, the lever’s sliding surface may become even during functioning.

Due to this, the engine may not work in some conditions. In addition to this, the life span of the engine may be reduced.
Consequences
Due to this problem, the accelerator pedal may become hard, slow, or mechanically trapped in a moderately depressed position, increasing the risk of an accident.
Remedy
To avoid this, dealers fixed a reinforcement bar in the accelerator pedal to make the operation smoother. GM considered this problem as one of the serious issues. Around 2230661 units participated in this recall.
